At the very beginning of our Relationship portraits, we decided to create these two products that incorporate multiple images rather than one larger one (or best case, in addition to the larger ones.) Being a 2nd generation studio, Tim's dad always told us to shoot full lengths from a distance so the figures were small. Why? To sell larger wall sizes in order for the client to see their faces:-) I guess we were a little rebellious. We decided, with the Relationship portraits, to go into the faces and shoot close-up to capture the expressions of each family member, especially the children. This was our version of "variety," not clothing or background changes. We also made the decision to hand-print in our darkroom, so the largest size we could print was 20x20 due to the limitation of our sink and trays. This was too small when displayed on a large wall. Thus was born the idea of selling in multiples. With multiples, we could take up more wall space and in addition, tell their stories more fully. Two amazing products were born out of this time that have served us so well and sold over and over again. One was primarily a tabletop product. The other product was for the wall. The Gallery Wrap Collection [for the wall] Selling this product was so much fun! It was like playing Bingo with the highlight image in the middle and then balancing the others so they made sense as an entire group. Details: Each image: 8x8 canvas wrap with solid dark gray or black sides. We spaced them with 3" between, making the entire presentation 30"x30". |
Our TOP SELLER over many years: Image Showcase [a tabletop product] The Image Showcase includes 6 image presentations plus a 13" Table Easel. Each image is printed inside of a white relief area with a thin black stroke around the image. We keep it very simple and clean. And we always remember to sign our work! With a square outside, we have options for the image to be: Square 8x8 Rectangle (V or H) 6x8 Details: Each presentation: 12 x 12 outer size printed by WHCC.comand mounted on Styrene. Easel 13" from Tripar Intl. Note: We also offer them framed. |
I hope these ideas help you out...we know they have been very popular for us and they are timeless. |
