Many years ago, we realized that we were not telling the story of our business.
How did Walden's begin? Why was it created? What was our purpose?
Every business needs to answer these quesitons, both for themslves and for their clients (and prospects).
And boy, did we have a whopper of a story about our beginings that we discovered our clients wanted to know!
His name was Bob!
And he was Tim's dad who was paralyzed in his early 30s, yet went on to create and build Walden's Photography. Bob's brother was a photographer in Indiana as well as two uncles in Kentucky and it was rumored that Bob was the photographer who did Colonel Sander's portrait that was the base for today's Kentucky Fried Chicken logo.
Tim studied with Bob from the age of 12 when he helped him print in the darkroom during the summer. He became his wedding assistant at 16, pulling Bob up church steps, grabbing needed equipment and holding a second light. With a little more experience, Tim became the second shooter at receptions.
After we were married, I joined the Walden team as the receptionist, framer, and cleaner of toilets:-)
Eventually, I earned my Master's Degree and became a seccond photographer for the studio and Bob retired, although he was always ready to jump in and help us when needed.
Indeed, we have a rich history that needs to be shared with our clients.
In our private Immersion course, we have been talking about creating content, with one area focused on our history. Here is our "History" e-booklet which is sent to prospects who are asking about our services. It is part of our on-boarding process.
We found when we share our history, it creates trust that we are the right place and the right people.
We want to create deep emotional connections. Emotion strongly connects us to our clients and telling our stories and sharing our history creates loyalty that lasts for years.
"Once your audience knows, trusts, and likes you, they will more likely buy from you. At the very least, you’ll have created relationships with people who will become advocates for years to come." -Forbes
